Women U get graduate transfer for last scholarship spot on slate

The Gophers women’s basketball team has added another graduate transfer player Isabelle Gradwell.

Gradwell is a 6-1 wing from Marshalltown, Iowa, who played four seasons at Cleveland State. She appeared in 115 matches there, starting 53 of them. As a senior in the 2021-22 season, she appeared in 30 games, started 28, and averaged 5.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.1 assists.

Gradwell adds depth to the team at No. 4, and she will likely be the last stock market player added to the Gophers roster this year.

“Isabelle has the unique ability to play in multiple positions and has a great outside shot,” coach Lindsay Whalen said in a statement.

The current roster is 11. Here’s how that roster breaks down:

  • Three returning players on the wing Maggie Czinano, guard Katie Borowicz and post player Rose Micheaux;
  • A four-player incoming recruit class – ranked 10e by ESPN – which includes guards Amaya Battle (Hopkins) and Mara Braun (Wayzata); winger Nia Holloway (Eden Prairie); and forward Mallory Heyer (Chaska);
  • Four players were added through the NCAA transfer portal in forward Aminata Zie, guard Mi’Cole Cayton, center Destinee Oberg and Gradwell.
