The Alabama men’s basketball team updated its roster on Friday, which reflects several jersey number changes as well as numbers for its seven newcomers.
Of the five returning players, three will wear new numbers for the upcoming season. Guard Jahvon Quinerly, who is still recovering from an ACL injury he suffered in the final game of the 2021-22 campaign, has moved from No.13 to No.5, which was previously carried by Jaden Shackelford who signed a 10-piece deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder last month. Forward Noah Gurley, who enjoyed an extra year of eligibility, went from number 0 to number 4. The latter was worn last year by Juwan Gary, who transferred to Nebraska this offseason. Center Charles Bediako moved from No. 10 to No. 14, claiming it after Keon Ellis agreed to a two-way contract with the Sacramento Kings.
Numbers 0 and 10 have both been claimed by newcomers with guard Jaden Bradley set to play number 0 and St. Bonaventure transfer Dominick Welch slated to donate No. 10 – a move Welch made to honor the 10 victims who lost their lives in the Buffalo supermarket attack. Other jersey numbers for newcomers include No. 1 for guard Mark Sears, No. 3 for guard Rylan Griffey, No. 15 for forward Noah Clowney, No. 23 for forward Nick Pringle and No. 25 for forward Brandon Miller.
Also still on the list is walking guard Jaden Quinerly, Jahvon’s younger brother, after entering the transfer portal after the 2021-22 campaign. All other transfers have been deleted. The former Quinerly, who was originally expected to turn pro after last season, opted to return following his injury in the NCAA Tournament.
