Two wins in a row! Are things finally getting better for the Toronto Raptors? With a list of winnable games to come, it could very well be. And if Pascal Siakam can continue playing like he did last night, good things will surely come.
1. Siakam: Good!
Pascal Siakam was excellent last night, losing 31 points on 21 shots. And guess what? He’s been good for a while now!
In his last eight games, Pascal Siakam has averaged 22.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.0 blocks and shoots 53.8% at two, 35.5% at three, 76.7% on free throws.

(I’m not going to share the comparison between these numbers and Siakam’s All-NBA season, because you already know the deal.)
After the match, Siakam shared the story of holding his niece for the first time on Saturday and peeing on her. The reason for its success? I hope not, because I wouldn’t envy him for trying to recreate this before every game!
2. Banton-Boucher link
Khem BIrch’s injury kept us from seeing all of the Killer B Canadiens play together, but what about Banton and Boucher’s game last night? Three of Boucher’s five buckets came out of Banton dimes, including this beauty in the third:
It’s too early to say the bench is no longer a handicap – the Wizards were pretty disinterested last night – but I hope it goes in the right direction.
3. Meditate on it
Speaking of Boucher, he had a wonderful post-game press conference where he spoke about his struggles this season and how his top-down game led to his top-down minutes. He took it all on himself, rather than blaming any circumstance or coaching decision, and said that by watching the movie – and he says he makes two movies a day – he can see why he does not play.
He also talked about how much more meditation, including before the game, helps him refocus and make him feel like himself again. It’s pretty neat to see how many players engage in activities like meditation and yoga to calm down and get ready to play.
4. The pleasure of sneakers
Faizal continues to do fun things with the Raptors to help fill our days off.

I don’t remember the first pair of real basketball shoes I ever owned, but the first ones I really remember were Kevin Johnson’s Converse. Google them up and tell me there is a shoe more from the 90s! Straps and mesh throughout.
As far as the Raps go, this team might be as good as some of the recent Raptors teams, but they’re still a pretty fun and lovable bunch. Definitely more adorable than some of those early Raptors teams.
5. Siri, search the dictionary for “wrist slap”
So the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls each got a second-round pick for their first apparent negotiations with DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry.
That’s the definition of the slap on the wrist, but what can the league really do? He knows full well that each team does exactly the same thing. The Bulls and Heat received the “punishment” apparently for making it too obvious.
Considering their hot starts, I’m pretty sure the Heat and Bulls are great at giving up a second round pick!
