Top-rated high school basketball player Shaedon Sharpe to register early in Kentucky

Glendale Dream City Christian’s loss this high school basketball season will be Kentucky’s win, after 6-foot-5 goaltender Shaedon Sharpe announced on social media Tuesday that he will be signing up early in Kentucky.

In a tweet, Sharpe said, “I would like to announce that I will be enrolling in the second semester at the University of Kentucky.

“Thank you to all my family, friends and supporters, looking forward to joining the #BBN family.”

Sharpe, ranked No. 1 in the country in the 2021 class in the 247 Sports Composite, will join former AZ Compass Prep goalie TyTy Washington in Kentucky for the second half of the college basketball season.

It remains to be seen whether Sharpe will opt for the NBA after this season. But that head start indicates he’s now ready to take his game to another level.

It was donated by Arizona State and Arizona.

Dream City coach Kyle Weaver said last summer that Sharpe was a great player and a better person.

“He works his butt and is a great teammate,” Weaver said in August. “Sportingly, I have never seen a player like him and I had the privilege of coaching both Terry Armstrong and Josh Green.

“Shaedon’s athletic ability makes him a threat at all times around his rim. His scoring ability comes from all three levels.”
