Let’s get this one out – Nikola Jokic is really good at basketball. The Nuggets center has averaged 48.8 PRA over 74 games this season, making a compelling case to repeat as an MVP.
That being said, there is value on this sub, especially as we get this line nearly 3 PRA above its average. His 32% usage rate this season was his career high, and playing without Jamaal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. for most of the season, there’s not much room for a playoff boost.
And the match will not be easy for the Joker. The Warriors are ranked the second-best defensive team this season and should be firing on all cylinders with healthy Draymond Green. Jokic hasn’t faced a Greens-led Warriors defense this season, but last year he managed just 47, 47 and 41 PRA in three encounters.
I expect Kevon Looney to draw the individual task on Jokic and Green to command the assist-side defense on the big man’s facilitation. Against a Warriors defense that held opponents to third-fewest points, fifth-fewest rebounds and second-fewest assists this season, I pegged Jokic at 47 PRA.
