Philadelphia 76ers legend Julius Erving has revealed who is the only NBA player to intimidate fellow Sixers great Wilt Chamberlain.
Almost throughout his illustrious NBA career, Wilt Chamberlain dominated the league and only a few could provide serious competition for his insane basketball arsenal.
Chamberlain played for a range of NBA teams, but he was best known for his time with the Sixers, the same team for which he scored 100 points.
Although Chamberlain often had the advantage over his opponents back then, Sixers all-time great player Julius Erving revealed that Washington Bullets great man Wes Unseld never backed down against him. .
In recounting his all-time favorite dunk, Erving vividly recalled how tough and physical the late Wes Unseld was in the process.
According to “Dr. J”, he dived on Wizards legend Elvin Hayes and noticed that Unseld was also there to “help” his teammate to stop him.
“I’m going down the lane, and that damn Wes Unseld was out there helping, and Elvin [Hayes]Erving recently said on The Knuckleheads Podcast. “I knew Unseld would hurt you without even blinking. He would take courage from the other players on your team because they wouldn’t even come to your rescue. Can? – even be that they won’t come looking for you because they will also get hit by him.
Right after dunking on Hayes, Erving realized he was lucky that Unseld hadn’t hurt him because he knew even Chamberlain was “scared” of “The Baby Bull”.
“So he was the only Wilt guy [Chamberlain] was scared in the league, and I always heard that before I joined the league, ”he recalls.
