MUMBAI – India’s top basketball player Princepal Singh has been included in the NBA’s Sacramento Kings roster for the California Classic Summer League.
Princepal, a 6-10 forward from Punjab who played for the Ignite G League team in the NBA G League last season, has been selected for the 3rd edition of the California Classic Summer League which will be played on 3 and 4 August at the Golden 1 Center, announce the kings. He was the first NBA Academy India graduate to sign a professional contract.
Sacramento will play two games, starting with its first game on August 3 against the Golden State Warriors.
The two-day four-team competition, a precursor to the annual NBA Summer League that involves all NBA outfits, will feature a two-headed clash each day featuring the Kings, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat.
NBA franchises test young college and G League players in the Summer League. Talented foreign players also have the opportunity to show off their skills.
If he does make the Sacramento Kings roster for the annual NBA Summer League, Princepal will only be the second Indian after Satnam Singh, who played for the Dallas Mavericks in 2015 and 2016, to do so.
