High school basketball player knocks out his opponent at the end of the game

In light of the Morris / Jokic incident and the LeBron / Stewart ordeal, it’s pretty clear that things can get tough in the NBA. While it’s rare for things to get really violent on the pitch, that doesn’t mean there haven’t been more than a few close calls.

However, some high school basketball teams in Iowa have discovered firsthand just how bad things can turn out when feelings escalate out of control.

In a video that has since gone viral, a young ball player can be seen literally punching his opponent during the post-match handshake line.

Details of how this happened remain unclear, but there was utter chaos after it all unfolded, with coaches and players scrambling to control the situation.

The Nevada Cubs beat the Carlisle Wildcats, 72-47, in an Iowa high school basketball game on Tuesday night. During the handshake line after the game, a Carlisle player attacked the player in front of the Nevada handshake line. He punched him in the body first, then appeared to knock him out with a punch in the face.

It looked like he tried to throw another punch as the kid was falling and another player from Nevada jumped up to attack the kid who was throwing the punches at him.

There seemed to be a ton of confusion before the coaches started yelling at the players to run to the locker room. The fact that this didn’t turn into a real brawl leaves us with a lot of questions about the circumstances surrounding this incident.

Given that the fight ended after the match was over, it’s fair to say that the issue was personal between the two players and it remains to be seen whether either of them will receive disciplinary action.

In the meantime, you can expect the internet to keep looking for clues as to what happened there and why things got out of hand to the point where they did.
