Former Ohio State basketball player released from team

The Ohio State basketball team had a pretty good team in 2021. They had EJ Liddell and Duane Washington leading the offense. Even though both players were really good, the Buckeyes were still upset with 15-seeded Oral Roberts in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

It’s been a rough week for the two former Ohio State basketball players. First, Liddell tore his ACL in a Summer League game and will likely miss the upcoming season. Now, Washington got its own bad news just before playing more in the Summer League.

Washington is no longer a member of the Indiana Pacers. He signed an unsecured contract late last year and is now waived by the Pacers to create cap space so they can sign Deandre Ayton to a max contract. Washington is a victim of cape.

Unfortunately, that’s what happens to a lot of players who were second-round picks. He will now have to find someone else to play for. Chances are he will spend most, if not all, of next season in the G-League. To be honest, that’s what he was supposed to do last year.

Things changed and he got more playing time at the NBA level. I think Washington can still be a decent NBA player. I like his potential as a heat check guy off the bench. I watched him a lot when he was with Indiana and there’s something about that.

It will be interesting to see where Washington ends up. Wherever he goes, I hope he can develop his game and become the best version of himself. He’s definitely good enough to play in the NBA and contribute to a good team if he improves his defense.
