With Kansas ranked third in the CBS Sports Preseason rankings, the Jayhawks are considered the preseason favorites to win another Big 12 title. They return three key pieces in Jalen wilson, Christian braun, and David McCormack. Kansas also added some full-fledged talent transfers with Remy Martin, Jalen Coleman-Lands and a few others arriving at Lawrence.
While Kansas is supposed to be leading the league, I see it as the year Texas takes the lead and wins a regular season title.
Why? There is a chip on the shoulder of this program with so much to prove.
All staff have a lot to prove after a summer recruiting season that did not go as planned. Chris Beard is here to prove that the University of Texas can get as much attention on the basketball court as it does on the grill. Finally, players realize that their best chance of achieving their own individual goals is to win.
As I mentioned before, the season is going to start uneasily. But, with the age and experience of the key players on this team, the Texan squad should be able to understand each other and learn to play with each other from the start of the conference. It’s easier said than done, but Beard has a talented, experienced group that is ready enough to take on the task.
