Charleston Lowgators selected Udoka 39th overall in the 2002 NBDL Draft to start his professional basketball career. On January 14, 2004, he was called up to play for the Los Angeles Lakers but was later released. The following year, he returned to the United States and was drafted into the National Basketball League (NBDL).
He was selected third in the 2005 NBDL Draft by the Fort Worth Flyers. With the Flyers, he had a 17.1 points and rebounds average and a 6.2 rebounds average. On April 6, 2006, the New York Knicks signed Udoka. On September 11, 2006, the New York Knicks released Udoka from his contract.
It was only after Aaron Miles failed a physical that Udoka received an invitation to Portland Trail Blazers training camp ahead of the 2006-07 season. Following the death of his father during pre-season, Udoka made the team a star defensively. Udoka has started 75 of his team’s games in the 2006-07 season, although he has only appeared in 12 NBA competitions so far in his career. He averaged 8.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 0.9 steals in 28.6 minutes per game.
The San Antonio Spurs signed Udoka Azubuike to a contract in 2007. Averaging 5.8 points per game and 3.1 rebounds per game in 18 minutes, he appeared in 73 games. In his second season with Spurs, Udoka appeared in 67 games and started in three of them. He played 15.4 minutes per game, averaging 4.3 points and 2.8 rebounds.
Free agent Udoka returned to the Trail Blazers after the 2009 season. The Blazers cut him on October 22, but he signed with the Kings on November 4, after being waived. With the Kings, he played 69 games, averaging 3.0 points and 2.8% on the glass 13.7% of the time.
To celebrate the holidays, on November 24, 2010, former Spur Udoka returned to the team, but he was released on January 5, 2011, after just 20 games with them.
