Bettors have a slate of six NBA games available to them on Saturday night. It’s really good that the league is scheduling a decent amount of games per day, as opposed to the huge swings in volume we were experiencing last week! Tonight’s card also includes the return of NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC. Needless to say, there are a number of intriguing props for NBA players to consider across tonight’s six games.
Basketball Insiders takes a look at the top NBA player props and free picks for the January 29 NBA betting list. Odds for the picks can be found at BetOnline Sportsbook.
Best NBA player accessories and free picks for tonight, 1/29
Caris LeVert Over 4.5 assists (-114)
Indiana Pacers guard Caris LeVert had a pretty tough offensive performance last night against Oklahoma City. He scored just 10 points on abysmal 3-19 shooting while playing over 40 minutes in the Pacers’ overtime win. LeVert also finished below his season average of 4.2 assists in the contest, handing out just three. This low total was somewhat surprising given that he operates as the team’s primary ball handler and playmaker with Malcolm Brogdon sidelined.
Before last night’s obscure performance, LeVert had collected at least four assists in five of his last six games played. The one time he didn’t was the only game Brogdon was back in the lineup for. It’s clear that his advantage as a point guard and distributor increases when Brogdon is out of the lineup. That will be the case again tonight, as we are still within the ten-day window that Indiana originally set as Brogdon’s final rest period after he aggravated his Achilles injury during his initial return. Expect LeVert to bounce back on all levels after his poor showing yesterday.
Kyle Kuzma Less than 8.5 rebounds (-122)
One of the most impressive parts of Kyle Kuzma’s strong first season with the Washington Wizards was his consistent impact on the glass. On Saturday, Kuzma is averaging 8.9 rebounds per game. A dozen rebounds on Tuesday marked the sixth time in his last nine games played that Kuzma has finished with double-digit boards.
Unfortunately, the rebound numbers will be a little tougher for Kuzma and his Wizards teammates in tonight’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizz enter the day with the best rebound rate (52.8) in the NBA. Memphis is easily the best team in this metric that Washington has faced in a while. Over the past seven games, the next best opponents by rebound rate were the Brooklyn Nets (T-11) and Boston Celtics (T-9). Kuzma finished with just six and seven boards in those two games, respectively. Support him to be below his per-game average and NBA player prop total tonight.
Pascal Siakam Under 20.5 points (-123)
The current NBA player, with a total of 20.5 points, is exactly half a point below the 21.0 that Pascal Siakam has averaged this season. After scoring at least 20 points in eight of nine games, the Toronto Raptors big man is coming off a lousy 3-12 shooting performance on Wednesday night. The 12 points he scored in that game was by far his lowest total in quite some time. While Siakam’s weak performance on Wednesday can largely be attributed to poor shooting, the opponent in tonight’s game could force him into similar struggles.
The Miami Heat are one of the best defensive teams in the NBA. They rank sixth in defensive efficiency, allowing just 105.4 points per 100 possessions. Miami also has the third-slowest pace factor ranking of any team. Ultimately, Siakam and his Raptors teammates face a double whammy when it comes to trying to top their NBA scoring prop totals tonight. Considering the minimal gap between the betting line and Siakam’s average per game, it makes a lot of sense to play less. If there was a game where he would be below his scoring average, it would be this one.
