Aaliyah Gayles, a rising college basketball superstar, was shot 10 times in the legs and arms in Las Vegas. She was attending a house party for only 30 minutes when the open shooting happened and sadly 4 people including her were seriously injured. The good news is that she seems to be making her miraculous return to court very soon.
Gayles is 18 and a player who has attracted a lot of attention with her skills and game. She plays for the University of South Carolina. She also participated in the Jordan Brand Classic and McDonald’s All-American game.

Gayles is a 5-star rookie and the #8 ranked player overall in ESPN’s Class of 2022. At Spring Valley High School last season, she averaged 13.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 3.3 assists per game.

Dwight said his daughter, the 5ft 9in guard, had been hit a total of 10 times in “both arms and both legs” and had her third operation this week. “She will be able to play ball again” Dwight said as reported by TMZ. “It’s God’s plan. She is still a USC Trojan.

Her coach at the University of South Carolina, Lindsay Gottlieb praised the young superstar, “Aaliyah is one of the strongest and most resilient young people I have ever known. Lindsay said she will continue to support her student and her family during this difficult time.
Aaliyah should make a full recovery. She still plans to play for the USC women’s basketball team as soon as she gets fit. It may take time for this to happen, but all surgeries have been successful. She will soon continue her recovery after 3 surgeries.
