During the games, hundreds of ABG employees will applaud Ukraine’s victory. We hope Ukraine will win – and not just on the basketball court.”
Volodymyr Drabikovsky, General Secretary of the Ukrainian Basketball Federation, said: “Ukraine found itself in very difficult conditions; an atrocious war is going on in our country. The entire civilized world has come together to help our state, and it shows from within. The sport is no exception in this difficult situation, and we are grateful for the support and true friendships that are emerging. I am confident that our partnership with Amber Beverage Group will be very fruitful for both parties and create a long term relationship. We are grateful to the company for their support and we will do our best in the next matches to prove that the Ukrainian people and Ukrainian sport as a whole are a nation of determined winners.
Ainārs Bagatskis, head coach of the Ukrainian men’s national basketball team, said: “A very important moment is coming for the Ukrainian national basketball team during the qualification for the 2023 World Cup. we need victories to solve our problems and reach the world championship. The Ukrainian national team deserves it and we will do everything we can for this together with players, friends and partners. For Ukraine, the matches against Georgia and Spain will theoretically be home matches, but due to the war we cannot organize them in Kyiv. I am happy that the arena for these matches is provided in Latvia and that Amber Beverage Group is the main sponsor of the Ukrainian team.
The national basketball team of Ukraine is traditionally among the participants in major European tournaments. In the fall of 2022, the team will participate in the European Championship. Moreover, Ainārs Bagatskis’ team has a good chance of reaching the 2023 World Cup. The main stars of the Ukrainian national team are NBA players Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk and Alex Len, whose involvement should also help the national team reach the World Cup this summer.
Due to hostilities in Ukraine, the main headquarters of the Ukrainian national basketball team is Riga, Latvia. This is where the Ukrainians are to play all of their ‘home’ games of the summer World Cup qualifying cycle. The first matches will take place on July 1 and 7, with Ukraine hosting Georgia and Spain respectively.
As part of the qualification for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, ABG was granted the status of premium sponsor of the Ukrainian men’s basketball team. In turn, this will provide significant financial support for the preparation of the Ukrainian national basketball team for five matches of the summer World Cup qualifying cycle, which are now key matches in the campaign. qualifying. The national team of Ukraine can, for the second time in its history, take part in the World Cup and present its national flag, which today is a symbol of democracy and the struggle for justice all over the world .
